Marge Vogt leads the race for the Olathe City Council Ward 4 seat, according to the final result posted on Tuesday night. She leads by about 200 votes.

Vogt has about 52% of the vote, while her challenger Dustin Morris has 47%.

"Obviously I'm grateful that the citizens got out there, they voted, they recognize the work that I've done to date and approved another four years," Vogt said. "With that, I'm going to have to work as hard or harder to make sure we continue to provide the services that our residents have come to expect."

Morris and Vogt were the only two candidates in the race for the seat, sending them straight through to the general election. She also out fundraised her opponent about $800, a much smaller margin than in other City Council races.

The Ward 4 seat represents the northeast corner of the city. Vogt was first elected to the seat in 1997.

In all, 4,000 or so votes have been counted in the race so far. These results are unofficial. More results will be reported and the tabulation will not be final until the election is canvassed starting on Nov. 9.

Vogt said she's hopeful for the city of Olathe's future and has faith in the vision.

"I will work as hard as I have and harder if I can to meet the needs, not just of my ward, but that of the city of Olathe," she said.

Kevin Gilmore and LeEtta Felter are also leading their respective races for the City Council.
