The Reporter is owned by Seaton Publishing Co., Inc., based in Manhattan, Kansas. The company has been in the newspaper business for more than 100 years. That company is affiliated by some common owners to newspapers in Arkansas City and Winfield, Kan.; Hastings, Neb.; Sheridan, Wyo.; Spearfish, S.D.; and Grand Junction, Colo. Seaton Publishing Co. is also affiliated with the Manhattan Broadcasting Group, which includes three FM and one AM radio station in the Manhattan area.
The company was started when Fay N. Seaton bought The Manhattan Mercury in 1915. Edward (Ned) M. Seaton, Fay’s great-grandson, is the current publisher and editor-in-chief of The Mercury, as well as The Reporter.
The Reporter will be sustained predominantly through the subscription payments of its readers, and through the support of advertisers that make use of its service to reach the best customers and potential customers in the Olathe area. It is a digital-only publication at this time.
